Empowering women – whether in the boardroom, workplace or household – is not just about bridging the gender gap. It is also a strategic means to empower India’s economy as a whole. For this reason alone, gender-budgeting – revealing the different impacts of spending and revenue decisions on women and men – is imperative. This was the singular idea pitched by Times Group vice chairperson and managing editor Samir Jain in his welcome address at last week’s ET Awards of Corporate Excellence.
