Disaster management is a core component of the GS3 syllabus. UPSC assesses understanding of institutional frameworks, policy measures, and operational challenges in managing various disasters, including those exacerbated by climate change, and the role of governance.
Disaster management encompasses the policies, plans, and procedures for preparing for, responding to, and recovering from natural or human-made disasters. Effective disaster management for wildfires involves early warning systems, evacuation protocols, coordinated firefighting efforts, and provision of relief to affected populations.
