Background
Overview
UPSC frequently tests the scope, limitations, and judicial interpretations of Fundamental Rights, especially those related to freedoms (Article 19). Understanding the balance between individual liberties and the state's power to maintain public order is crucial for governance and constitutional law.
Article 19(1)(b) of the Indian Constitution guarantees all citizens the right to assemble peacefully and without arms. However, this right is not absolute and is subject to reasonable restrictions imposed by the state in the interests of public order, sovereignty and integrity of India.
