Background

UPSC cares about government initiatives that promote democratic values, civic education, and youth engagement, especially those related to the functioning of Parliament and strengthening democratic institutions.

The National Youth Parliament Scheme is an initiative by the Indian government to familiarize the youth with the practices and procedures of Parliament, inculcate democratic ethos, and develop qualities of self-discipline, tolerance of diverse views, and healthy debate. It aims to strengthen the roots of democracy by engaging students and citizens in mock parliamentary sessions.
