Background

Overview

UPSC cares about government initiatives that promote democratic values, civic education, and youth engagement, especially those directly related to the functioning and understanding of the Indian parliamentary system. It reflects efforts to strengthen democratic institutions from the grassroots.

The National Youth Parliament Scheme is an initiative by the Indian government to familiarize the youth with the practices and procedures of Parliament, inculcate democratic ethos, and develop qualities of self-discipline, tolerance of diverse views, and healthy debate. It aims to strengthen the roots of democracy by engaging students and citizens in mock parliamentary sessions.
