UPSC frequently assesses knowledge of international organizations, their functions, challenges, and India's role. Peacekeeping is a core function of the UN and a significant area of India's foreign policy engagement.
United Nations Peacekeeping Operations are deployed by the UN Security Council to assist countries in transitioning from conflict to peace, aiming to maintain international peace and security, protect civilians, and support political processes. They are guided by principles of consent of the parties, impartiality, and non-use of force except in self-defense and defense of the mandate.
