89 additional CAPF units, advanced surveillance, real-time monitoring for safe Amarnath yatra this year

The Centre has significantly increased the deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, adding 89 units to reach 670 companies. This enhanced security measure follows a terror attack in April 2025 on one of the yatra routes. The CAPF personnel will secure the entire pilgrimage route from Jammu to the cave shrine. Additionally, J&K police have implemented background checks and QR-coded identity cards for service providers, refined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and deployed advanced surveillance systems, face detectors, and real-time monitoring mechanisms to counter potential threats and dismantle the terror ecosystem along the routes.
