India summons U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission after second ship attack in three days

India summoned the U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission to lodge a strong protest after two recent attacks on commercial vessels near the Omani coast, which resulted in Indian sailors missing and dead. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the incidents as "deeply worrisome" and a "direct result of the ongoing conflict in the region," reiterating India's demand for free and unimpeded navigation in international waterways. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) claimed responsibility for disabling one of the vessels, M/T Marivex, for non-compliance.
