Outreach to high-risk population, standardized, intelligence-led response model must to nullify cyber fraud challenges: U.P. police

Uttar Pradesh police officials have called for a standardized, intelligence-led response model, swift account blocking, and extensive public outreach to combat rising cyber fraud, including 'digital arrests' and AI spoofing. Key measures proposed include monthly cyber awareness campaigns targeting schools, colleges, banks, panchayats, RWAs, markets, coaching centres, and special campaigns for senior citizens and women (e.g., 'Call 1930 Immediately'). The strategy also emphasizes maintaining a State-level threat intelligence database, identifying repeat offenders, coordinating with I4C for inter-state and international networks, issuing advisories, maintaining nodal officer directories, conducting cyber drills, and reviewing district performance on response and case disposal. The police highlighted that hybrid cybercrime threatens citizens' complete digital identity, leading to financial loss, identity theft, blackmail, and reputational damage.
