Government Orders Removal of Unauthorised E-Rickshaw Battery Management Apps from App Stores to Protect Consumers

The government has ordered the removal of unauthorized e-rickshaw Battery Management System (BMS) mobile applications from app stores due to misuse. This action is part of a broader national framework to strengthen cybersecurity and digital resilience. Key institutions involved include the National Cyber Security Coordinator (NCSC), Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) under the IT Act, 2000, National Cyber Coordination Centre (NCCC), and National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC). Additionally, the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and the 'Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA)' project by MeitY contribute to consumer protection and digital awareness.
