Centre Deploys National Joint Outbreak Response Team as Multi-Institutional Probe Intensifies into Chandipura Virus Outbreak

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has deployed a National Joint Outbreak Response Team (NJORT) to Gujarat and Rajasthan to manage a Chandipura Virus Disease (CHPV) outbreak. This involves a multi-institutional probe by NCDC, ICMR, DAHD, and state health departments, focusing on epidemiological assessment, clinical management, vector and animal surveillance, and genetic analysis of the virus, adopting a "One Health" approach to understand its transmission, clinical spectrum, and guide public health interventions.
