The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 364 MT of Pakistan-origin dry dates and 14 MT of Pakistan-origin Guggul resin, collectively valued at over Rs. 4.4 crore. The goods were illegally imported by mis-declaring their country of origin and routing them through third countries like the UAE and Dubai, in an attempt to circumvent India's prohibition on imports from Pakistan as per the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023. The Guggul resin is listed in CITES Appendix II and categorized as Critically Endangered by IUCN.
