SVAMITVA SCHEME AND RURAL PROPERTY OWNERSHIP RIGHTS

The SVAMITVA Scheme, spearheaded by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj in collaboration with the Survey of India and State Governments, aims to provide Record of Rights to property owners in rural inhabited (abadi) areas. It utilizes drone surveys and Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) technology to create high-accuracy maps, thereby reducing property disputes and facilitating access to loans. The spatial data generated is integrated into Gram Manchitra, a GIS-based application, empowering Gram Panchayats for decentralized planning, identifying infrastructure gaps, and supporting evidence-based preparation of Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDPs) for sustainable rural development.
