No solar, wind, renewable energy project within 1 km of international border, says Home Ministry

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued new national security guidelines for solar, wind, and hybrid renewable energy projects in border areas. These guidelines impose a blanket ban on such projects within 1 km of international borders, LoC, and LAC, and mandate MHA security clearance for projects up to 50 km away. Projects between 1 km and 20 km also require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Defence (MoD). Restrictions include foreign participation and staffing from certain countries, prohibition on land transfer to foreign companies, mandatory security infrastructure like anti-drone systems, and height limits for associated buildings. The move aims to address national security implications arising from a surge in applications for these projects in sensitive border regions.
