Odisha identifies three locations for university townships

Odisha has identified three locations (Kamakhyanagar, Puri-Balukhanda, and Jatni/Tangi) for establishing university townships, as announced in the Union Budget 2026–27. These townships, envisioned as integrated academic, research, skilling, and residential ecosystems, will be developed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and managed by a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV). The initiative aims to foster industry-academia linkages, promote research, innovation, and skill development, potentially focusing on specific sectors like mining. Each township could host multiple greenfield universities and shared infrastructure, with further exploration for locations around Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur, and Koraput.
