Not ‘delulu’ — an AI tutor for every child in India

The article proposes a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) model, akin to UPI and ONDC, to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) for providing free, high-quality test preparation to all Indian students, especially those in government schools. The government would act as a platform and market-maker, providing digital rails (identity, payments, discovery, data, credentialing) and aggregating demand, while the private sector (teachers, ed-tech firms) supplies content and mentoring. This aims to unbundle the coaching industry, drive down costs, and ensure equitable access to personalized learning, starting with NEET and JEE, by focusing on content interoperability, student data ownership, and open ratings.
