Turkiye has initiated a new peace process with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), marked by a new law offering conditional amnesty to thousands of militants. A Monitoring and Evaluation Board has been established, and working groups are focusing on legal issues, disarmament, monitoring, and social reintegration. While the PKK has dissolved its armed campaign and called the legislation a 'beginning,' it has also highlighted shortcomings and demanded the release of its leader, Abdullah Ocalan, who does not benefit from the current amnesty law. The process aims to end a four-decade-long conflict that has claimed over 40,000 lives.
