Nepal-China flash flood disaster exposes fragility of Hindu Kush Himalayas: U.N. climate chief

A recent glacial collapse and flash flood near the Nepal-China border, specifically in the Bhotekoshi river region, has resulted in significant loss of life and infrastructure damage. The UN climate chief, Simon Stiell, highlighted this disaster as a stark reminder of the Hindu Kush Himalayas' fragility due to climate change, emphasizing the need for a faster global shift from fossil fuels to renewables and increased investment in climate resilience. India's Ministry of External Affairs also reported missing Indian citizens.
