Pakistan’s Dar, Munir arrive in Turkiye ahead of first Makkah defence pact meeting
Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir arrived in Turkiye for the first meeting of the trilateral 'Makkah Joint Defence Agreement' with Saudi Arabia and Turkiye. This pact, signed on August 7, treats an attack against one country as an attack against all, amidst rising security concerns in West Asia, particularly concerning the Iran war. The meeting in Istanbul will involve foreign and defence ministers from the three nations. Separately, Turkiye's Foreign Minister also invited Dar to a Regional-4 meeting (Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Egypt) focused on regional security and mediation efforts between the US and Iran.
