Overview
UPSC examines the structure, functioning, and controversies surrounding governmental and quasi-governmental bodies, especially those that raise questions about constitutional propriety, separation of powers, and democratic accountability. The NAC exemplifies the challenges of informal power centers and the role of civil society in policymaking.
The National Advisory Council (NAC) was an advisory body formed in 2004 during the UPA government, chaired by Sonia Gandhi. Comprising activists, academics, and policy experts, it aimed to provide advice to the Centre on its common minimum programme and facilitate civil society input into policymaking.
