Social justice is a foundational principle of the Indian Constitution and a key policy objective for the government. UPSC examines the state's efforts to achieve social equality, address vulnerabilities, and promote inclusive development through various schemes, laws, and institutional mechanisms.
Social justice refers to the fair and equitable distribution of resources, opportunities, and privileges within a society, aiming to eliminate discrimination and ensure that all individuals, regardless of their background, have equal access to basic rights and a dignified life. It is a core constitutional ideal enshrined in the Preamble and reinforced by Fundamental Rights and Directive Principles of State Policy.
