Russian President Vladimir Putin arrives in New Delhi to attend BRICS summit
Russian President Vladimir Putin visited New Delhi for the 18th BRICS summit in September 2026, marking his first in-person BRICS participation outside Russia since the Ukraine war. The summit, hosted by India, focused on enhancing collective resilience in food, energy, health, disaster reduction, and critical supply chains amidst a fragmented geopolitical environment, global economic challenges, and the Russia-Ukraine war. UN chief also emphasized multipolarity and UNSC reforms. Putin also held bilateral talks with PM Narendra Modi to expand cooperation in defence, energy, technology, pharmaceuticals, and people-to-people exchanges, with other world leaders also attending the summit.
